a missions trip
so i have now been back from my missions trip to louisiana (mostly New Orleans) for almost two days. and i have been trying to figure out a blog post to make about my experience but i honestly don't know what to say or how to say it. so let me try by saying this. i have been on a number of missions trips in my life. once when i was in highschool i went on a week long out reach in new orleans. when i was in college i went on a couple of trips here and there including mexico, arkansas, and guatemala. the point is this...I have never been on a missions trip that was this hard, this exhasting, this draining, this life changing, view changing. so here's the shortest description of my trip possible. 5 of us went to new orleans for 6 days. 2 days we gutted a house that had 9 feet of standing water in it for more than a week. for 1 day we did out reach in downtown baton rouge with the church we working with. for 1 day we visited fema parks and handed out food to those in need. and for the last full day we were there we cut grass in the new orleans ninth ward so that these people would not be charged by the city for not keeping up their yards. it all sounds basic but it was hard. it was physical and emotional and spiritually exhausting. there is still a huge need in this city. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS. If you want to check out more in detail what we did feel free to hit my friend Tim's blog.
