Here's what I've noticed...
Blogs that are short and shallow and really say nothing have LOTS of comments. Blogs that are wordy and may actually say something or mean something or share something have no comments.
Does this say something about us all?

no. i think it says it is easy to make a joke and that we are respectful enough (at least most the time) not to make a joke out of serious things.
